I’m a 45-year old massage therapist with a busy solo private practice. I’ve been married for nearly 15 years to a fabulous guy who I adore. Through the miracle of stepfamilies, I have four sons and four daughters-in-law or significant others. Between them all, we have five darling grandchildren. It’s way too much fun – and I only wish we weren’t adding chronic illness into the mix!

Hello,
As someone who blogs about RA, I thought you may be interested in a campaign called Hand in Hand for RA (www.handinhandforRA.com) that encourages people with RA to volunteer, share their stories and inspire others. The campaign is all about turning the tables on volunteerism and showing that people with RA don’t want to be held back by their disease – rather they can and want to give back to their communities. Please check out the Web site.

Hi Allison,
Wow that’s a big question! I didn’t get diagnosed until after I was already a full-time practicing massage therapist, but I think I had RA even before I started my certification program. I work very hard to stay well and keep my inflammation numbers down – diet, exercise, medication compliance, acupuncture and energy work sometimes. I also think that moving into a less stressful career (my previous was advertising) has made a huge difference in my wellness.
I was just getting ready to write a post … and now I think I’ll add some longer answers for you. Check back soon!

Hi,
Just wanted to say thank you for this blog. I am 37 and was just diagnosed with Psoriatic Arthritis and about to go on Metrotroxine. So reading about your experiences really helped. Warmest wishes!

Hi , I cured my RA with diet and alternative medicine – Please email me if you want any info – if you want to free yourself from methotrexate etc and get your life back it will require tenacity and patience, but so worth it!

Hi May,
Thanks for visiting and also for your offer of help. I’ve also had some terrific results with dietary changes. Prepping a blog post now to discuss some of this, but you’ll find I’ve already discussed some of my ideas here. I am a big believer in integrative health – finding a way to make a variety of approaches work even harder than each approach would individually. Again, thanks so much for visiting!
Hugs in healing,
Barbara
